Hi,

The other month we were talking about this and I downloaded a program
that seemed fine. I found out later that for some odd reason it would
only split files at the 99999 mark at the most,

Does anyone have a windows program suggestion that allows splitting
by number of lines AND of files >99999 lines please ?

Regards, John.

John, is TextWedge the program to which you refer?

I fixed a few bugs in it recently - was not aware of any glitches
with line counts - but if it had this problem, it is definitely fixed
now (just tested a split of 300,000+ lines into 2 X 120,000
and 60,000+).

No, the program I had been using is called Text Split. I HAD
downloaded your program but unfortunately I hadn't got around
to trying it out.

Yes, it does. I look forward to checking it out. Bye the way. You
might consider putting a screen shot of it on your site. Or did I miss
one ?

Thanks for your help. :)

Hi John,
The main window is just a blank editor screen - not very interesting.
Everything is driven via menus at present - I *could* show some shots
of the dialog boxes, but have only got limited time at present.

Be sure to download the latest version if you want to try it - previous one
had some rather disconcerting behaviour, under certain conditions.

Cheers,
Adrian

Hi Jack,
this would be easy enough to do as an emacs function.

Wow ! That would be great. The valuable help that you have already
given me regarding Emacs would sure be enhanced if you could make
that a function.

Many thanks for the suggestion/post. It is people like you that make
this newsgroup outstanding. :)

Lastly, I am pretty sure that you have already answered this question
but to save me checking heaps of posts again can you/someone else
suggest the best newsgroups to learn/discuss (windows) Barry's Emacs
and (windows) gVim ?

Regards, John.
