this is a strane problem i realised after long time that my Laptop
Toshiba has only one Parition(primary) which was made by the vendor
after he handed over me the peice.

I tried partition magic 6 to make this primary partition into 2
partitions viz one primary and other extended logical. but partition
magic cannot split this primary partition as it needs to delete all the
partitions and start over again.

I do not want to loose all the data as its important and taking a
backup and reinstalling all softwares will be hectic.

Please advise any way / software which can wihtout loosing any data
split my 70 GB Primary partitions into 2 so that one has the os and
other can be for data.

any suggestions at the earliest will be highly apprecitated

Thanks regards

What makes you think that PartitionMagic cannot split your
primary partition? What are the exact messages you see?

Partition Magic 7.01 was the first version modified to be compatible with
the new Windows XP filing system. Version 8.0 (now 8.02) was the first "new"
release to be deemed fully compatible. Do not use any version earlier than
version 7.01 or you will likely have issues develop.
