I have a WinXP Pro system with a wireless Ethernet connection. During
boot-up the Desktop appears before the background apps finish loading and
users frequently try to access the Internet before the WiFi adaptor
negotiates a connection with the access point. I'm looking for a utility
that features some kind of splash screen, concealing the Desktop, until the
boot process is truly complete. Does anyone know of such a utility, or a
method to do the same thing? TIA

You can force XP to wait for the network at statup and logon via local policy.

Start - Run - gpedit.msc

Local Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Administrative
Templates\System\Logon

Enable "Always wait for the network at computer starup and logon"

Many thanks, Mr Helpful. I did try your suggestion but it's still allowing
users to access an email client, or web browser, before an internet
connection is established at boot-up. Is there something else I need to do?
Thanks again.
