When playing Spider Solitare on our Windows XP Home
machine with 512 Meg of RAM the machine will lock up
after playing for an hour or so. In order to restart we
have to unplug the machine from the AC outlet and plug it
back in again. Thsi type of problem does not occur with
any other software on the machine. Any help to rectify
this problem would be appreciated.

Ray, go into Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer and click on
the Application listing in the left panel. This will reveal Events in the
right panel. You can look for either yellow triangles with exclamation
points or red circles with white X's in them. Those can be right-clicked,
then select Properties, to view a portion of the error which has happened.
This would give a clue as to what is going on.

HAVE YOU EVER TRIED TO JUST PRESS IN ON THE OFF BUTTON ON
THE PC UNTIL COMPUTER SHUTS OFF. THEN WAIT ABOUT 20
SECONDS AND PRESS THE ON BUTTON ON AGAIN TO RESTART.
USUALLY DO THAT WHEN IT FREEZES UP FOR ANY REASON. THAT IS
REBOOTING. HAVE YOU CLICKED ACCESSORIES, CLICKED ON DISK
CLEANUP. THEN AFTER THAT IS DONE, CLICK ON DEFRAG UNDER
ACCESSORIES. THAT WILL CLEAR UP SPACE AND GIVE MORE SPEED,
ETC. MINE IS A NEW PC WITH WINDOWS XP HOME, WITH THAT
AMOUNT OF RAM. SEEM WINDOWS XP IS SO DIFFERENT IN VARIOUS
WAYS. MAYBE THERE IS AN ADJUSTMENT NEEDED TO BE MADE BY
YOUR SUPPORT TECH OF YOUR BRAND OF COMPUTER. I SEEM TO
HAVE HAD TO RESORT TO THAT ON VARIOUS THINGS WITH THIS XP.

DOC,

Please learn how to use the CAPS Lock key correctly first. Typing messages
in all CAPITAL LETTERS is considered to be yelling at others and bad
manners.
