Since Outlook Express has been replaced by Windows Mail I am no longer able
to use spellcheck. Is that permanent or is there something I have to do to
get it up and running? Thanks. Vista is not very user-friendly.

Go to tools>options>spelling tab and enable the obvious.

Thanks, Steve. How simple. Just like XP. Now if I could only figure out why my create mail adds my Bcc recipients to my To recipiants when I hold down the Control key as I click on each name. Any answer for that one?

The only reason that can happen is if you double click on the recipient, it
automatically puts them in To:

Ctrl+Single click on several recipients, then press Bcc> button, works OK
here.

Either you are slightly heavy handed :-))

Or you need a new mouse?

Thanks, again, Steve. I've been suspicious of my wireless mouse for quite awhile due to it double clicking by itself while playing solitaire. It's a Logitech mouse and not very old but I guess I'll just have to pop for a new critter. I still have my regular Microsoft mouse with cord so will give that a try and see.

Bye, again, and I hope this is the last time I'll bother you.

Again, thanks Steve, but my 64bit system isn't compatible with my mouse
driver so I'll just limp along until it drives me to purchase another later
model. If I'm very careful while clicking on cards in solitaire and names in
my contact list I don't have trouble. It's nice for us 81 year-olds to have
someone out there willing to take the time to help us muddle through. I know
enough about computers to get into trouble but not enough to get myself back
out of trouble.

Hey "old timer", only 20 odd years behind you, not sure if I will ever catch
up?

So why are you using 64 bit, when a large % of applications will not run on
it, (driver issues), looks like you want to be at the "forefront of
technology"?

I know enough about computers to get other people into trouble, I never
follow my own advice :-))

Stretch the pension and lash the cash !! :-))

I ordered from HP direct and was not asked which I wanted. 64 or 32. I didn't know any difference. 64 sounded better than 32. I've been told I can revert to 32 but for a price. It's just another example of technology gaining ground and my mind losing ground. Oh, well!! If that's my only problem I've got nothing to worry about. Take care.

I can't imagine HP providing a 64-bit OS when you didn't ask for it.
In my opinion, 64-bit is more trouble than it is worth, especially so
for the average user.

Thanks, Gary, but I ordered Vista Home PremiumX64 without knowing how much trouble it would cause. I'm a novice at this and just figured HP would do my thinking for me, I guess. Anyhow, I have checked with TigerDirect.com and I can purchase Vista Basic with 32 bit for under $100. I'll have to give it some thought about whether the drawbacks to 64 bit are bad enough I want to put out more hard-earned cash. Like I told Steve, another poster, I'm smart enough to get into trouble but not smart enough to get out.

Bob

Shop around. You should be able to get an upgrade DVD for Vista Home
Premium 32-bit for about $74. For example, see
http://www.outletdeal.com/product.php?eid=560
or
http://www.directdeals.com/ProductI...03&zmam=1527582&zmas=4&zmac=19&zmap=66I-00003

The Vista upgrade DVD can do a fresh install by following this procedure:
http://www.ehow.com/how_2241482_do-fresh-install-windows-vista.html

In your case, you are certainly entitled to the cheaper upgrade price since
you already paid for the 64-bit version.

Thanks once again, Gary. I looked in the various websites for a way to go from 64bit to 32bit and the only way I see is to pop for a Vista Home Basic CD. The websites seem to be for upgrading and not downgrading. I'll go to my local guru and ask some questions.

By the way, this site sure must be busy as I can't get into it almost
everytime I try from my e-mail. If I click "Help" it usually works.

We don't use that clunky method of getting here, we bring it to us :-)
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail

Will open it in WM.

If you need any help with that get back here.

Thanks, Steve. I tried copying the URL you gave and placed it in Bookmarks but it came back unavailable. I'll try again later. Maybe I didn't wait long enough.
I am using Windows Mail.

You're very welcome.
Your local guru will probably confirm that you need to do a fresh install from
a 32-bit Vista DVD. If so, the $74 solution I suggested is the way to go.
