Spellcheck changes from UK to US

Hi all

I have Outlook 2003 and have the spelling default set to English UK.
However, some times when I create an e-mail and spellcheck it, it goes back
to English US, other times it keeps the UK settings?

I have checked and double-checked my default settings and they are
definitely UK. Any idea why this happens? It isn't with every e-mail, only
some?

Thank you.

I use Word as my e-mail editor. I have checked my settings in Word and this
is defaulted to English UK too?
