Whilst using Office 2003, the spell checker and grammer checker facilities
are not working, even though the tick boxes are ticked. Have tried
unticking, closing down, restarting and re-ticking the boxes, but to no
avail. Any ideas?

Ctrl+A to Select All. Then go to Tools | Language | Set Language and make
sure that the correct language is selected and that "Do not check spelling
or grammar" is not checked.

Can I ask you if you know how this happens? A lot of our documents here
somehow get the langauged changed and we have to do the same thing, language,
take the check mark off and make sure it's set to English and I press Default
to make sure my default is set to that.

Some of our documents are changes to German, or French. Any specific reason
why this happens or do you think it's just because they may have copied text
form a foreign document and pasted instead of Paste Special?

Thanks.

That's one common cause.

Another possibility is that these languages are installed and enabled under
WINDOWS. And if the user press Shift+Alt the language changes (and you usually
don't realize it).

The third common scenario is that the language has been enabled in Office and
the automatic language detection (Tools/Language/Set language) is activated. The
user types something, Word decides it's not English, but French (or German) and
changes the text formatting without asking.
