incorrect spelling to the dictionary!!! I have flu so I am foggy :) Can this

The user dictionary can be accessed at C:\Users\user
name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\UserDictionary.lex
Open in WordPad>Delete the word>remove the blank line>save file

I too need to remove a word. I followed the above directions no problem,
until I got to the \UserDictionary.lex I have no such file in my folder. Any
other suggestions as to how I can edit the spell checker dictionary? Thanks.

It has to be there. Do you see any other files in that folder? Which ones?
It should be located somewhere between tmp.edb and
WindowsMail.MSMessageStore.

It should be mentioned that the "user dictionary" is located in the Windows
Mail message store folder. If someone has moved that folder somewhere else
(I know I have to make backups easier), then you have to look to where the
store folder is located.

I am actually a computer person, admittedly more MAC than PC, so I really do
not think this is user error. I did check the show hidden folders option
-That is how I saw Appdata to start the thread. I get to the end and no
dictionary file. I am using Vista, coudl that have anything to do with it? I
also did a search for the file name o the computer. Here is everything I see
in the folder...

Folders:
Backup
Local Folders
Microsoft Communities
Stationary

Files:
account{37FA8131...
account{FD6E8165...
edb.chk
edb
edb00011
edbres00001.jrs
edbres00002.jrs
oeold
WindowsMail.MSMessageStore
WindowsMail.pat

Thanks for any help you can provide.

You're definitely in the correct folder. You might also want to adjust
your folder options so as NOT to hide common file extensions.
I don't know why yours is not showing the custom dictionary file. Either
it doesn't exist, or perhaps it acquired the 'system' attribute. System
files are hidden by default, which is in addition to the ordinary 'hidden'
attribute. Try adding more words to the custom dictionary from within
the Windows Mail GUI. That may force the custom dictionary to be
created.
