Can't get it to stop spell checking the oringinal message in a reply or
forward.

There are boxes to check under Tools, Options, Spelling ... check reply and
forward box

I alresdy did that even tried the technique of changing it, appling it, and
then changing it back and appling it again. It still just keeps spell
checking the original text.

That will happen if you've done some editing in the original text, or
changed the format from HTML to plain text. After those kinds of
changes, WM can no longer recognize what is 'original' text.

How do I know if it has been changed? I didn't do any editing on pupose.
Thanks

I don't know. I'm just giving you the benefit of my personal experience.

This happens to me also; that is, that the spell check often acts upon the
text being replied to.

You say "HTML to plain text" but that does not apply to me. I do however use
the option to read all mail in plain text by default, so perhaps the spell
check is confused when the plain text format becomes HTML format when I
reply.

You can disable that feature, "reply in same format as received etc",
tools>options>send.

It would be a little rude of me to reply using plain text when a message was
sent as HTML. The only problem with replying in HTML is this spell check
bug. I am not complaining about what is happening; I am explaining. I did
not understand why the spell check does what it does; at least now I have an
idea of what is happening. It is a bug but I am willing to live with it
compared with the alternative of replying in plain text when a message was
sent as HTML.

I was not asking for help; I was helping others to understand.

OK thanks, just thought I would mention it Sam.

Okay and thank you. Excuse me if my reaction was too strong. Perhaps someone
else will benefit.
