Spell Check-Troubleshooting

When checking a document, if a word is spelled incorrectly, it is
underlined, automatically, but when I click F7 or spell check the little
window doesn't open giving me options to fix. Please help!
 
Sometimes, the spellchecker doesn't find a suitable replacement, which is
why no suggestion is being made.
 
That is not the case, but thanks for trying to solve my problem. In addition
when clicking on spell check the area turns grey and sometimes freezes up.
 
I work for a school district and I'm asssuming Word is installed on the
server and I don't have access to the software. Our tech person has no idea
what the problem is. ANy other suggestions?
