We had a designer create Word templates, but for some reason, she decided to
disable the spell check. I figured out how to fix it and have created new
templates that have it turned on.

However, when text is copied and pasted from the old templates (where the
spell check was turned off) to the new templates, it does not pick up
spelling errors. Any ideas on how to address this?

Select all (Ctrl+A), couble click on the language button at the bootom of the
Word Window, Select Langauage required in top section, clear the Do Not Check
Spelling or Grammar check box.
The document should now be open to spelling and grammar checking.
This is for 2003 and prior, maybe different for 2007.
Hope this helps

Spell check is a formatting attribute of the text. If you copy formatted
text from another document then the formatting will come with it and if that
include the no proofing option, then that's what you get. You need to either
re-apply the proofing parameter or paste special > unformatted text so that
the formatting of the destination is adopted.
