My kids have a new Dell with XP. We were able to link them to our cable
modem through the speedstream wireless connection when they had windows 98.
Now with xp, once they are set up they can access the internet for a short
period then they lose connection and a message comes up saying usb is not
recognized. Then a blue screen comes up with a message that says error has
occurred and windows will dump information to prevent file damage. We then
must manually turn off the computer and turn it back on only to get the
message that a serious shut down occurred.
This system worked fine on 98 which leads me to believe it is an xp issue.
In the speedstream setup, it does say that it is not digitally signed but
speedstream instructs to ignore message and continue.

How is the wireless set up on the new dell? What wireless vendor? Is it
using a speedstream USB from the Win98 computer and, if so, did you
install the driver before connecting the USB wireless? Usually, this is
the procedure in XP unless the vendor has a specific procedure.
