Speed and control panels

Hi,
Simple question about ati software and D3D games: Will a system be faster when using drivers without
control panels ? I'll precise I'm using a clean xp installation, only for game purposes, nothing
more, nothing less. I turned most of its services to disabled or manual :)

Suppose it can be argued that skipping the tray icon associated with a
control panel will save RAM and CPU cycles. Depends how much RAM you
have - I don't get any noticeable degradation on my system from running
ATI tray Tools, and I like to have the thing right there to launch
profiles (though I know I could use shortcuts). The CCC, on the other
hand, has a larger memory footprint by far, though I can't comment on
how much it sucks, via the .NET framework, from the CPU. It won't
really matter until you play something that really taxes your rig, then
I suppose every drop you can reclaim from other processes is going to
help. But opinions vary I think.
