specified domain

Hi

Error: The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.

The error, however, doesn't tell what domain specifically.

We got this WinXP Pro PC. It's not part of any domain. It's a standalone
PC, and the networking is set up as part of WORKGROUP.

Now, I can't get past the logon screen - no matter if I try Administrator or
any user.

Please let me know if I can get around this.

Thanks
Steve

When you hit CTRL+ALT+DEL at the logon screen, hit the "Options" button and
make sure that you are login into the local machine, not a domain.

Yes, I did. When clicking on Options, there is no domain dropdown - only
showing/hiding the shutdown button.

I have exactly the same problem an a users home computer. The machine has 3
accounts + administrator none of which were set with any password. Can't log
into any account as it give the same message "The specified domain either
does not exist or could not be contacted". No option under options to change
the domain/local machine. This is on XP Home.

Thanks!

Dave
