Do you mean a checkmark (like a V)?
You can insert a checkmark via Insert > Symbol > Symbols tab - select the
font "Wingdings 2" and you will find checkmarks as characters no 80 and 82.
Note that you can also insert these checkmarks without using the Symbol
dialog box. Just select the font Wingdings 2 and type an uppercase P or R
