Hi,
I want to create an index entry containing a tabstopp. I could not find
out a way to insert this special character into the index entry. Any idea?
Thanks for help
Pia

You can add a tab stop to the Index 1, Index 2, etc., style. What is the
purpose of the tab stop?

My index entry consist of two parts like:

AF <tab>AutoFocus

The resulting index shall then look like this:

AF<tab>Autofocus<tab>"PageNumber".

Actually I even do not need the Pagenumber in the resulting index, I
will delete them all at last, because I want to create a list of
abbreviations.

In that case I would take a different approach. Create the XE field as
you've been doing and generate the index, setting "(none)" as the tab
leader. When editing is complete, unlink the INDEX field (Ctrl+Shift+F9) so
you can deal with it as ordinary text. Use column select (press Alt while
dragging) to select all the page numbers and delete them. Then replace ^t^p
with ^p to delete the trailing tabs (you could probably use Find and Replace
to delete the tabs and numbers in one go, using wildcards). Then set your
tab stop where you want it.
