Special Character, Paragraph font

Hi,

I am using MS 2002, with windows XP home, as the OS. For the past 2 weeks
when I open MS word, I have this paragraph font on my MS word, and i dont
know how to remove it. And when I type something on MS word, and use the
space key, I get black dots on MS word. When I open MS word Document received
as email attachments from friends, they also have these paragraph font and
black dots, though they tell they didnt put it on the document when they sent
it to me.

Kindly guide me as to how to remove these special characters as they are
very distracting.

Personally I can't work without them. Hit the ¶ button in your toolbar one
