speaking of Access bugs...

Periodically, selection behaviour goes wonky on me -- as though I were
holding down the Shift key while clicking. I first noticed this in the SQL
View of the form-design window (whereby it was impossible to edit unless I
was prepared to delete swathes of text ), but it also happens on forms (i.e.
in Datasheet View, if I click on a record, all records from the top-most to
the clicked one get highlighted).

I don't think this is a hardware problem, because it has only happened to me
when using Access.

Has anyone else encountered this?
 
Next time this happens, look in the status bar, and see if you see:
EXT
If so, you are in extended selection mode - typically triggered by pressing
F8. Pressing Esc should return to normal mode.

Or perhaps you're too fast on those keys, and Access did not know one of the
shift keys was released. :-)
