speaker trouble

For some reason my speakers will not emit sound. My cd
is playing, but no sound is coming out. They have worked
fine up until now. I have a toshiba laptop and the
speakers are built in, so I know they're connected, and
I've followed the troubleshooting tips so it's not that
the volume's on mute or anything.
I'd really appreciate it if someone can help me identify
this problem.

Thanx for the tip, but I can't understand what they're
telling me to do! That's what you get when you're a girl
that knows nothing about computers. If anyone could help
me with this, let me know.
