Hi:
How do I change the English language operating system in XP for a Spanish
one?I have XP Home Edition and I went to Control Panel and changed the
language, but the spell check did not work.
Thanks

One cannot change a particular language version of Windows XP
to another language version. In your case, you'll need a "Full Spanish
Version" of Windows XP and proceed with a "clean install".

Hi Marrieta,

The only way to get true Spanish functionality out of XP, is to buy a
Spanish version.

To change everything, you need to buy a new, full Spanish copy of XP, be
it retail or generic OEM. You can, however, download programs such as
Firefox, Real Player, WinAmp, Crap Cleaner, etc. in Spanish. You see,
Microsoft's total lack of concern for their paying customers and basic
greed motivates them to NOT issue a multi-language operating system like
Linux does.

The reason it does not work is because Windows XP does not have a Spell
check.

Right, spell checking is a feature of some applications, not the
operating system. If marrieta is trying to get Office to spell-check
in different languages, he (she?) needs to look at the Office Proofing
Tools
(http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/prodinfo/language/proofingtools.mspx).
That's exactly what they do. If marrieta is using some other
application, the question should be directed to the manufacturer of
that software.
