spam sites popping up

I'm wondering if someone could help me with this problem - every time I go
to a music-related site such as www.allmusic.com or www.gemm.com, I get, in
addition, an extra browser popping up with www.cduniverse.com. Could
someone tell me where this originates from, I'd very much love to get rid of
this problem. It's started happening after I installed a new OS on my PC:
Windows 2000.

Also, every time a page is not found, I'm taken to
www.internet-optimizer.com

read some other posts for sources...search these
newsgroups for popup blockers.
