Spam Problem

Himanshu

Hi,
I am using personal mail web server, given by us as a complementary by
our ISP provider to check the emails & services usage. My problem is
that in the Inbox if I get 10 mails daily, out of 10, 6 are junk mails.
I configured mail on my outlookexpress (pop & smtp is gvn by ISP).
I am using Nortan Internet security 2005 having the spam killer
features, but hopeless. Junk mail are still downloading.
I want to know is any software/program is available that it will block
this type of mail on mail server & not allow to d/l on outlook express?

I don't think you have a "personal web server". It sounds like you have
web-based access to the ISP's server. If you do actually have the
ability to run programs on the mail server, then you should be running
SpamAssassin on it. However, it takes quite a bit of skill to set up SA
and keep your mail server secure.

On the client machines, you can use a mail client like Thunderbird which
has better Junk Mail filtering than OE. I wouldn't know anything about
NIS's abilities since I hate Norton and wouldn't use it.

You will still get spam, of course. How much spam you get depends also
on your own behavior whilst online. Here's a link to a brief article
about spam, with links to more in-depth sites:
