I am using XP and Outlook express. I am trying to block spam with:-
M?I* and M?1*
I have made sure the rule is applied to each newsgroup, but it just doesn't
work at all. Can anyone please help?

You cannot use wildcards in junk mail options and rules do not apply to
newsgroups since those are not actually email. And you are in the wrong
forum. OE is not Office's Outlook. Ask questions about OE in an Outlook
Express newsgroup.

The MS Outlook folks probably don't use MS Outlook Express, and don't know
its limitations. As for MS Outlook Express rules, no wildcards. You need a
capable reader, with "regular expression" ("regex") filters. All you can do
with MSOE is create new filters after the fact.

And next time, you will probably find better help in one of the following
groups:

microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress
