Can anyone help me set my microsoft word so that every time i start up word
for a new document, its default is ALWAYS set as 12 point font, times roman,
AND single spacing??

The default font is that configured in the normal paragraph style in the
normal template. Change that to whatever you want
or
leave the normal style as it stands open the normal template for editing.
Apply a style of your choice to the text space. Type a character, delete it
then save and close the normal template. All new documents will start with
that style.

What version of Word are you using? I'm guessing it's Word 2007? In any
event, are you using Adobe's PDF Maker add-in? If so, then this add-in is
known to discard any modifications you've made to your Normal template.

If the default font is Times New Roman 12 point I would suspect Word 2002/3
I think 2000 had 10 point TNR and 2007 has Calibri.
Acrobat's add-ins do leave much to be desired but version 8.1.2 at least for
Word 2007 has proved inoffensive so far :)
