I have recently installed winxp pro. My hard disk says I
have used 4.40 Gig but I can only account for 2.5 gig.
Can anyone tell me how to locate the other 2 gig?

Did you do it as an upgrade, say from Win98? If you did then if you go
into Add/remove programs you can remove the old Win98 (or rollback to
it) to free up space.

Additionally XP also creates restore points. This can use a lot of disk
space too.

Depends on how you accounted for it??????????????????
Would suggest go tools folder options view and unhide everything and try
again.
We have no crystal balls thus we do not know what or how you did your
accounting!!!

Hi Mike,

Three things to check:

1) Check the size of pagefile.sys - it may be very large. This would be
especially so if you have a lot of ram installed. You may need to make some
adjustments.

2) Check the space alloted to System Restore, it may be high. Control
Panel/System/SR tab, click on "settings" and reduce the space allotted.

3) Did you upgrade a Win9x system? If so, the undo .dat file may be taking
up a few hundred mb's.
