space before footnote

There is automatically lot of space created before the commencement of a
footnote. How to delete or modify the space?Ta
 
It's probably space that's gotten into the footnote separator; see
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/NoteSeparators.htm

If there's space before *every* footnote (even when there are several on the
same page), then the Footnote Text style may have acquired Spacing Before.
You will need to modify the style to remove it.
