SP4 Setup Error - SP4 cannot update a checked (debug) system.......!

Trying to update my W2000 Pro (SP3) system I received the following
stop message after the file W2KSP4_EN.exe had been verified and
extracted:

Service Pack 4 Setup error: SP4 Setup cannot update a checked (debug)
system with a free (retail) version of Service Pack 4, or vice versa.

Can anyone interpret this message and say if there is any work-around?
Could it be that my original installation was done from an early
release of W2KPro? and this is causing the problem now?

There are two different sp4's, one checked, one free
retail. Not sure what the difference is but on the page
you downloaded the one you have should be a link to the
other one. It should work.
