SP4 Install Error -- can't be written

I've got W2000 xp. downloaded sp4 to drive no problem. every time it starts to install, it gives me an error message that "memory can't be written" and a number that has a lot of 00000000..

any idea what to do? I've cleaned out all viruses and spyware.

SP4 is for Windows 2000 (and it's buggy, but that's at least three other
threads here), NOT for Windows XP. This is a Windows 2000 group. Pay
attention.
