SP4 back to SP3? (no archives!)

On one of our pcs, we installed SP4 without archiving the old files. Now we
find that the only way to get the romaing profiles to work form this pc is
to uninstall SP4 and revert to SP3. Which of course we can't do on that PC.
I tried running SP3 setup, but it says you can't install over SP4!
How can I get out of this without a reinstall?

Since you didnt archive the files, you will have to re-install 2000 over the
existing installation. This will take everything back to the version that
was on the CD. If your CD has slipstreamed SP3 into it, then you wont have
to worry about updating the service pack. If not, re-install, and then apply
SP3 to the system, plus any Post-SP3 security fixes.
