Hi,

I was forced to re-install win 2000 and my software after
my cd drives would no longer be recognised. I was led to
belive that this was due to a registry conflict when
running Magix Mp3 maker and Adaptec Easy CD creator.

After a clean install all was fine and i began the long
process of installing my software. I decided not to use
Easy CD this time( plan to switch to nero ) and so only
installed Mp3 maker. After numerous restarts everything
was fine.

I then thought it was wise to add sp4 again. This time I
chose the archive option to remove if it caused any
problems. After restarting my computer I was amazed to
find both of my cd drives had dissapeared again. So it
looks like sp4 was the culprit all along. I have
successfully uninstalled sp4 but the problem is still
there.

Please help as i don't think i can face going through the
whole long winded procedure again.

3 hard drives (C, D, E)

thanks, paul

additional info:
sp4 was full stand alone install from a cd.
I do not use the internet on this pc.

thanks, paul
