"After installing SP3, there is no need to have any updates
because they will only slow down your system "

What a crock of shit that is...slow down your system?...geez
that is dumb.

Oh no it is not "a crock of $hit". It is fact borne out by 10
years of using and experimenting Windows XP Professional on a
number of hardware, made by top companies. What evidence can you
provide it is "a crock of $hit" apart from shouting & booing from
the sidelines like a hooligan.

How does MSE compare to major security suites like McAfee, Norton, etc. in
both effectiveness and whether it bogs down your computer?

MSE rates very highly in test results. I am using MSE on all my
systems and I don't have any reasons to complain. Even my slow
machines are running fine with MSE. I originally migrated from
AVG and AVAST and I don't regret at all now.

This site does comparisons.

http://www.av-comparatives.org/

Microsoft Security Essentials 1.0.1611.0

Rating - "Advanced"
False positives - Very few
On demand scanning - slow

14 other products beat it on "missed samples".
Microsoft did very well on False positives, with only 3 products beating them.
Microsoft scanning speed was very slow compared to the others.

The hardest part of using the av-comparatives site, is finding
the reports :)
