SP3 problems

My computer recently did an automatic update and restart and for some reason,
my MagicJack phone quit loading/working. I did a reboot to original specs,
turned off automatic updates and magicjack worked just fine, but IE7 would
close every time I tried to go online. This site recommended uploading
service pack 3, which I did and IE7 works fine again, but my magicjack has
shut off again. Any suggestions on how to remedy this situation and get BOTH
to work? Can I uninstall SP3? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You can uninstall SP3. Go to C:\Windows\$UNinstall Folders. The
latest one that should be very large 300MB+ will contain the uninstall.exe
file you need. Or you can take a
chance and install IE8.

I rather respectfully disagree with Rich's post in that I too run
magicJack and I /have/ SP3 on my XP Pro x86-32bit system. However due
to many reported difficulties with IE8, I have backed my IE8 out and
retreated to IE7 for general performance reasons.

Service Pack 3 is a very valuable update and basically your system
will become unsupportable after 12-April-2010 for Microsoft updates if
not installed.

Rich, I searched for this "uninstall folder" you've mentioned, but to no
avail. I looked through the C drive folders and did a control panel search,
but still couldn't find it. Any thoughts? I had IE8 installed at one time,
but my time sheet site I go to put in my work hours, is not supported in IE8
yet, so I'm forced by work to stick with IE7 at this time. Can you think of
any reason why MagicJack was adversely affected by SP3?

1PW, does your magicjack load and operate with SP3 installed? Any idea why
mine doesn't? MagicJack sent me a replacement magicjack but that one
encounters the same problems. It worked like a charm until that danged
update. I have to use IE7 myself for work related reasons, namely our
timesheets, which we have to fill out online. The site works with IE7, but
not IE8 yet. Maybe next year they say. I couldn't find the folder that Rich
spoke of, so I'm digging here man. Any suggestions to get magicjack up and
running would be greatly appreciated.

Yes - my magicJack has long worked with SP3 which also was installed
soon after system build.

Yes - I /had/ tried IE8 but because of performance issues, I fell back
to IE7.

I might tend to recommend you flatten & rebuild if practical.

Since I do not know what MagicJack phone is and 1PW has it and
it works on his computer with SP3 installed, I would follow his advice. Try
uninstalling MJP and reinstall it.
On uninstalling SP3 your have to unhide the folder. You can
do this by selecting Tools>Folder Options>View>Check Show hidden files and
folders and uncheck Hide
protected operating system files. For more info on what's in SP3
go below. If you kept up to date with Autoupdates you may not need it.
