SP3 in Add or Remove Programs panel.

After following all prescribed pre-downloading/installation requirements for
SP3 and applying Method 3 (Reset the registry and the file permissions) as
shown in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949377 the installation went
without any problems - the system is running extremely well.

Start, Run *winver* indicates:-
MS WinXP Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp.080413-2111:Service Pack 3)

System Properties panel indicates:-
System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3

When opening the Add or Remove Programs panel "Windows XP Service Pack 3"
is listed, however on the right-hand side of the panel there is no
indication whatsoever with respect to the size and installation date of
this program (just a blank space).
Is this something to be concerned with?
FYI, Windows Resource Kit Tools - SubInAcl.exe is listed as size 0.36MB.

Catarina,

I installed Sp3 from the iso download I burnt to CD as I had more than 1 machine to update, but my System Properties Panel, winver and Add/Remove all show identical to yours.

My installation went absolutely fine and all is working quite well so I'm hoping that all is actually OK. I did my install after following the Clean Boot State as Colin Barnhorst has suggested to many in various threads.

I do have a couple of other entries in my Add/Remove that show the same as Sp3, such as the MS Compression Client Pact 1l0 for WinXP, MS Base Smart Card, the Hotfix for MS .NET Framework 3.0 and a few others so I don't think it's really anything to be concerned with.

That's because the SP3 entry you see is not a separate program. The entry
in Add/Remove invokes a rollback to SP2 based on the installation details
recorded by Windows at the time SP3 was applied.

Colin,

Thanks for the clarification on that and it does seem like the logical answer (now!). I wasn't worried as I said in my OP I had other entries the same way.

Thanks again!
