Would someone know when SP3 for XP is officially rolling out to the masses?

Only MS. No announcement of the release to manufacturing has been made.
The date of general public availability will only be published when the
software rtm's. Go ahead and join the office pool and make your own guess.

I'm hoping it'll be sooner rather then later for two reasons.

1. SP3 is supposed to have some improvements for wireless.
2. I have an original copy of XP with no SP. To have to do all the updates
takes forever. Hopefully things will be faster to update once SP3 comes
out.

Don't hold your breath: WinXP SP3 will require that WinXP SP1 or WinXP SP2
be installed, dear.

I can tell you from experience with 2 motherboards and clean installs of XP this week that RealTek audio
drivers and some nvidia networking drivers DO NOT get along with what is SP3 right now.
Had to punt back to SP2 to get audio on either mobo.

These are pretty common drivers. The stew isn't ready yet.

MS says SP3 is still a BETA.

And one can't slipstream WinXP without a SP with SP3?

Why do you care? What problems do you have now that you expect to be
fixed by SP-3 that are not already available in SP-2 and subsequent
hotfixes or patches?

Yes. Minimum requirement will need to be an SP1 disk. SP0 is not being
supported by design.

If the rumors on the Internet are true, March 24th. No one knows for
sure 100% except Microsoft but I would say that's a pretty good bet.

SP1 killed off a lot of pirating schemes so I suspect that was part of the
decision.

SP2 is being pirated no problem. The ONLY thing that Microsoft's
so-called anti piracy schemes do is inconvenience the paying customer
and provide a lot of very low paying jobs in Morocco and India.

No, no one would know. It will be released when Microsoft deems it to
be ready. There are rumors galore, but rumors often turn out to be
false, and I always ignore them myself.

However, almost certainly it will be fairly soon--within the next
months at the most.

So are you saying that if I want a slipstreamed XP sp3, I have to use my
slipstreamed XP SP1/SP2 as a base and not the hologramed XP cd?
