Is it possible that installation of SP2 can block
connection of canon scanner to computer? I have all the
software and drivers installed and it worked perfectly a
couple of weeks ago. Does any one have an idea? (I have
Window XP Pro /SP2). I spent and hour on phone with Canon
tech. Her last suggestion was to uninstall SP2. I do not
want to do this if there is a workaround.

Thanks Tom

Go to the Canon website, download and extract the most recent driver released by Canon for your specific model, to a folder you will remember. Delete the scanner from the Device Manager, and unplug the scanner from the back of your PC tower. Reboot, then plug it back in after getting back into Windows; you then should get a "New hardware detected" popup. Let the hardware try to detect a driver for it (it shouldn't find one). Then go back into Device Man. and you'll see a ! under the "Other Devices" section. Expand that, then right click on that item, choose properties, driver tab, then update driver. Choose to look for a specific location for that driver (i.e. where you extracted it), and let it update. See if this helps.

Thanks for suggestions. I resolved the problem. I had to
delete SP2. I downloaded the drivers from Canon.
Installed them then plug scanner back in and it works
fine. I appreciate the help
