You can't run XP SP2 on your Windows 2000 Pro system. Currently the
latest SP for your system is SP4.
How are you being notified of the update? Is it a balloon popping up on
the bottom right of your screen near the clock?
Sounds like a tool that is trying to trick you into downloading XP SP2, but
it will really download a malicious program.
I would recommend using a third party spyware removal tool (spybot,
adaware, etc) and updating the virus definitions on your system and doing a
full scan.
