I had SP2 stall -[the window did not freeze but the
progress bar did not progress and further, and no hdd
activity and no processor activity for 1 hour,] all it
said was "finishing" until finally I had to terminate the
process reboot and uninstall. I was using the 266Mb
package too.

Note: I booted clean for the install, with all startup
items in msconfig off except for ctfmon.exe.

This wrkstn is 3.2Ghz, 1G Ram, 200Gb SATA RAID, with 2
Lacie external Firewire400 drives.

Anyone else have this prob?

Apparently there have been problems reported with the LaCie external
firewire drives. Go to LaCie's site for tech support. I believe there
is a firmware update.

Thanks, but I looked into it and found that mine is a
FW400 drive, which does not need an update. It is still a
mystery. I'm going to try to unplug the drives anyway and
install again.
thanks
