sp2 = slow machine

i just installed sp2 onto windows xp pro and now my startup is slow as hell.
it boots fine, but when it comes to my desktop my start bar doesnt show up
for like 4 minutes. i can use shortcuts on the desktop fine, jsut no start
bar and a mouse pointer that indicates busy.
anyone else have this prob ?? any ideas

it happened to me after install process, but it got better

the only thing is the I.E. and msn explorer freezing up after afew mins

No, the updates are still needed.
I consider myself one such user! Also, spyware
progs may be a history.

My guess is that spyware programs are more important than ever.

Installing does take a long time. I have already installed on 5 PCs and

average it took about an hour to install and other 20 minutes to restart

Boy, is that optimism. I'll have to agree that the IE popup blocker is good.
It stopped
popups that made it through a hosts file, big restricted sites list, and
Proxomitron. But
I'm not chucking them yet. Also I think that updated virus signatures and
malware
signatures for Adaware and Spybot are going to be needed for a long
time(meaning
no evidence that it won't be forever at this point).

The first vulnerability in SP2 has already been documented. Another
endless fix is in process.
