SP2 seems to revert windows profile to older version

Has anyone else encountered this problem:

After installing XP SP2 on Windows XP Pro, the user profile seems revert to
an older version. Desktop settings, Outlook Configuration settings have
changed to how they was a couple of months ago. Files also seem to have been
affected with documants I have worked on recently reverting back to old
versions. I thought this was an isolated experience, but this has occured on
4 of our customers PCs and now my own.

If you have sufferd from this, have you found out why, is there a fix way of
preventing this?

Sounds like after installing SP2 your PC Restored to an earlier date. SP2
installation creates backups and saves them. It also creates a repair
directory
under the Windows directory. Maybe MS has informed some MVP about this
happening and give them some insight on how to prevent this. Good post for
future SP2 installers to backup your data first and use a CD. Good luck :~)
