After reading about all the problems many people are having, I was a bit
concerned about installing WinXP SP2. So I went to the pub and had a few
pints while it happened. Just got back, rebooted, and everything seems fine.
I don't use the XP firewall (I have a freeware one that works great), and I
use AVG Anti-Virus, but neither of them caused any conflicts. All of my apps
(so far) are working ok as well.

Well, most of the ones that would post a message would be posting because
they had a problem.

I installed it on three computers with mostly minor problems. The only
major one (problems with internet) cleared up when I updated the firmware
for my router, so it may have been a conflict between the Windows firewall
and the router firewall.

I had to laugh at your post...(in a good way) While sp2 was installing I sat
and watched it for awhile and grew quite nervous. I then went and got a
shower....when I came back downstairs it was done and ready to restart and I
said out loud "Oh no here we go." Thinking once it restarted I was in a
world of hurting. LOL! I, too was quite afraid to do the sp2 but I figured
"what the heck, I'm doing it..if it doesn't work I'll just reformat again."
I just reformatted my pc last week so I do not have a whole lot of
information on it at the moment so I figured I might as well get sp2 over
with now rather than later when I have acquired more information on the
computer. I'm glad sp2 worked for you. Serenity~

It was probably the few pints in between that made it install successfully.
