I haven't heard of any complains about A64s. I'm currently running an A64
3000+ and did a slipstream install of WinXP SP2 and it runs beautifully.
Check your SATA settings and set them to legacy if you can.

It's not Mpegport.sys or DEP but mine still bombs on boot - too quick to
see what BSOD says. Back to SP1!

Can only really be the AMD as other almost identical Intel PC's have
upgraded almost flawlessly!

Are MS still in bed with Intel?

Jon

must admit that is something that has not been mentioned as a possible
problem but what are the connotations?

No problems here, have been running SP2 final and preview on A64 3200+.

Jon,

there is a known problem with the Athlon 64. To be precise, the
processor works rather well, currently too well for its own
good. It exposes faults or obsolescence in some drivers.

Please read about the details and about a workaround in
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm.
