Hi...

I use both a Main and an Alternate Identity in OE6. Will this cause a
problem when I install SP2?

Thanks,
Jeff

In theory, no. But you should be aware that the default 'Main Identity' is
much more prone to corruption (-> loss of messages!) than a Named Identity.
For best reliability, I suggest you create another Named Identity, import
messages from the old 'Main Identity' and then delete the old one
(File>Manage identities).

Before installing SP2, address the following general caveats:

Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

Disable Background Compacting and frequently perform a manual compact of all
OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/maintain.htm.

Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.

Then 'Take Out the Trash': http://aumha.org/a/health.php#tip6
