Several of us have posted issues where VS.NET hangs when debugging a Windows
application from the IDE. Common to us are the fact that we installed XP SP2
and we use Norton Firewall and Anti-Virus. Using Task Manager to kill VS.NET
and the instance of the running application is the only way out of the hang.
Documentation on Min Kwan Park's blog suggested disabling IIS Admin service,
and that seems to solve the problem. But that cannot be a recommended
solution for developers that also create Web applications and need a clean
IIS running under XP SP2.
What causes this problem? What fix is recommended?
