I have had to use the restore CD's on three computers in the last week. One
computer was an e-Machine. One was a Dell and one was a Compaq/HP.
After doing the restore, I attempted to immediately install SP2. On each
machine I was greeted with a BSOD kernel error. I tried multiple times with
each machine. The problem was repeatable. Note: other machines did not have
this behavior.
With the above computers, I then performed a restore from the factory CD's.
I installed SP1, rebooted and immediately installed SP2.
Guess what. SP2 then installed without any problems.
So, just another hint to those of you who may be experiencing different
install problems. The above method may work for you also!
