SP2 install problem

I had just finished updating the computer to sp2. Becuase I was removing
virus issues, the retore was turned off.

Now the system will log into user, and immediately log back off, and now
allow me to do anything.

This happens in safe mode and regular mode.

Since I can't log into windows, and suggestions on how to fix the problem
without wipeing the system?

Try pressing f8 at startup and in the boot options select: last known good
configuration.

Alan, you could try a Repair Install. Since you just installed SP2 it may
not accept your WinXP CD. You may need a
slipstreamed XP + SP2 CD which you can create yourself. Check at Michael's
