Sp2 help

My motherboard got fried when installing more ram. A tech guy put in the new
motherboard but when I turned the computer back on, sp2 was gone. I can't
use IE because it needs sp2 and I can't install sp2 with mozilla. I order
the sp2 CD and it says "insufficient acess privilages" when I try to install.
I also get pop-ups saying XP isn't activated when it is and when I go to
activate it takes me to a site and my mozilla goes crazy jumping quickly
between two links. Someone please help me?

why would only SP2 dissapear after a new mobo was installed? you
may need to reactivate Windows, but a service pack shouldn't be
affected. of, did you techie restore your PC to its virgin state
using the OEM CD that came with it? If the latter, then, yeah,
you're gonna have to either download all the patches or re-install
SP2 and then install all the patches since then.

Are you logged in as Administrator?

All versions of XP came with IE.......if your operating system was
reinstalled you have IE...you just need to look for it under "start"

Hate to say it but you need to go back to the "tech guy" and ask him what
exactly he did to your system, because it seems clear he's done a lot more
than simply replace the motherboard and he's managed to break your system in
the process.
