SP2 Freezing on Login

I have installed XP SP2 on many systems now in my department, and I have
noticed that on many of them, windows freezes during logon (after I type in
my username and password). It comes up to a normal blank blue screen, and
the mouse pointer is visable, no hourglass or anything. It is completely
frozen, unless I hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and then it continues to boot up. Has
anybody seen this? I will do some more checking, possibly a build from
scratch with a SP2 slipstreamed image and keep checking after each new
program is put on, perhaps it is a problem with an individual program.
Thanks in advance if you have anything which could help

Yes, it recommended most users do that, but I would also make an inventory
of the applications being used and go to the manufacturers website for these
apps and get any necessary available updates before and after install XP
SP2.

Also, check the new Windows FireWall, in the Control Panel, to see which
specific ports are being blocked.

I also recommend restarting in safe mode, disable screensavers and doing a
defrag and disk clean, befor doing deploying XP SP2, also do it again after
installing XP SP2.
