SP2 Fails with "Internal Error"

I am trying to install SP2 to an XP Pro box running SP1. I've tried running
it from the CD and from the version downloaded by Windows Update. Same
results both times. Somewhere after the Inventory but before saving
Uninstall Files, an alert hits the screen saying "An internal error has
occurred". Upon clicking OK, I get another message saying that SP2 Setup
failed. I have installed SP2 on many other of our machines, without a hitch.
The only difference is this particular machine has multiple users. I've
halted the real-time virus screening (Auto-protect) and the network firewall
client. I've looked at the support KB and find nothing.

Any help? Thanks in advance.

Please have a look at http://winhlp.com/WxSP2.htm .
