We're running a Novell Netware network, and use SUS to deploy all
software updates. Although SUS claims to be able to push out
servicepacks, I have never used it to do so. I would like to deploy
sp2 as easily as possible. However, I want to disable the security
center, and the built in firewall. We can't use GPO's, but can push
out registry changes to users. I've attempted to manually disable the
Security Center service before installing sp2 (through the registry).
However, it enables it after the install. I have not tried the same
with the firewall, but I assume I'll get the same result. I've read
whitepapers talking about disabling the firewall through "netfw.inf".
However, it did not say where to put this file when doing the upgrade.
Basically, I'm wondering what my options are for the easiet, most
managed, most transparent to the user installation. Thanks.
