I've recently had to uninstall sp2 in order to prevent my pc
BSOD'ing every time I try to run any of my games, especially but not
always when running from back up copies that I've made to preserve the
origional cd's! Can anybody suggest why sp2 should cause such errors
(there were no pointers as to which files were involved, just a stop
code pointing to memory access violations with no further info past the
stop code addresses!)?
Also, an unrelated query; why does my system information show a page
file available space of 1GB & 1.5GB virtual memory when I only have a
520 MB page file on my second hard drive & none on any of my other three
partitions?

You might want to check your virtual memory settings once again: check all
drives listed there. Do you know how to get to that configuration option?
Is this info being reported wrongly or does Windows XP go
about the paging file in some strange way that I've not read about?

You never know without checking. If it still insists in the virtual memory
configuration that there is only one page file, yet you still have those
problems on the System Information page, you might want to contact
Microsoft.
